About Sally Jean

I am a very creative and active person who loves a challenge! I spend my free time pursuing lots of different hobbies to support my well-being.

I enjoy making sculptures and art pieces out of found materials. I also enjoy playing guitar and singing. Dancing is one of my loves.

On sunny days I love to go paddle boarding on the Murray River. Being in nature especially near water is very healing for me.

Despite being unwell with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, two years ago I began learning Aerial hoop and silks at the age of 42.

Last year I competed in my first Aerial hoop competition!

I slowly built my strength by working out at the gym and I also love going for long walks in nature. Last year I started Self-Defence Martial Arts.

For relaxation I enjoy meditation, bubble baths and listening to music.

My approach

I utilise my past lived experience combined with my therapeutic knowledge and clinical application of holistic evidence-based modalities, underpinned by Neuroscience.

My approach is based on a knowing that with the right support people can bring forward their inner resources and connect with external resources, to work through challenging experiences, feelings, beliefs and behaviours to cultivate meaningful and joyful ways of experiencing life.

How I became a well-being practitioner

I became a well-being practitioner because of my own lived experience of severe mental distress, which began as a child and became more intense as I grappled with the impacts of bullying, domestic violence and abuse.

I had challenging experiences with medication and struggled to find the right support in the medical system. I was experiencing the impacts of trauma for many years and it was showing up in my life in self destructive ways. I lacked confidence, was disconnected from my body, was self-medicating and I experienced intense mood swings.

I was able to mask for a lot of my life but my internal word was often in considerable turmoil. It was when I lost two people close to me that I made the choice to dive into a deep well-being path.

I came across Hypnotherapy and that is when my deeper healing began and I decided to train to become a therapist. It was because of the difference it made to me that I felt compelled to support other people to connect with their wholeness and sense of well-being, from an integrated holistic perspective.

I am a Holistic practitioner who is trained in many different clinically proven well-being modalities including: Creative Therapies, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Holistic Psychotherapy Modalities, Solution Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Parts Therapy.

I chose to study so many different modalities because I understand that people are dynamic and we all have a different path to well-being.

I am now studying personal training to deepen and strengthen my capacity to work with whole body well-being.
